Our Trip to the Museum!

Image result for the auckland museum
Have you been to a museum before? Have you seen things from way back? Last week on Friday, the KMPG offered team 5 a special trip and that's the trip to the Auckland Museum. The First thing we have to know before entering the museum is the rules. My group, me, Trendy, Christina and Jahzara were with Nicole she's part of KMPG and she was our adult. We got to know each other and she was very sweet. My first favorite part of the museum was the part where I got to see a tiny Maori whistle. At first, I expected it to look like the whistle nowadays but it's actually really cool. It was so small and it also had carved patterns on it. The second thing that I found interesting was the airplane game. We had to control the airplane and go to were it's telling you and you have to take a picture of the location. I and Christina had a lot of fun but then we had to stop because there was a queue of people that also wanted to play. The last thing that I enjoyed the most in the museum would be the "Spitfire" it's a place where a  big plane from the old days is kept and believes me it's real.  Also in the same area, I saw the trophies and medals of the people that died. When we got back to school everyone was tired and we had to sing karaoke to keep us alive and it actually worked. I'm so happy that I get to experience going to the museum especially with my friends. I'm also happy that I got to see a real air-plane. One of my highlights would be playing on the field with my friends.

One of the rule are:
1)DON'T TOUCH THE WORK OF ART
2) NO FOOD OR DRINKS INSIDE
3)NO PUSHING OR RUNNING INSIDE THE MUSEUM.
4) NO SHOUTING OR YELLING( Use your inside voice)

Genomics Fun Day!!

Image result for genomics

Today was Genomics Fun day, which is why the year 7's & 8's from Glen Innes and
Glenbrae came to our Team. In the morning in my home class we had to divide in to four groups. Lucky I was put in the same group with my friends. When Glenbrae and Glen Innes were here we had to sit in the street. After the meeting we were sent to our home class and the other schools had to divide into different classes to pick any group they want to be in. When all of them got in a group we introduced ourselves and told each-other what inspired us about Genomics. After doing our meet and greet we had to go back in the street and play a game for spot prizes and the game was that Jannie gives us a question and the one who knows it has to stand up and say it out loud.  When we finished we had to go back to our home class and review some of the Genomics stuff that we did. After like 15 minutes of reviewing, it was time for the quiz. So the thing is we get a paper of genomics question and we had to write down the answer or say it to the panel for points. After we did the Quiz and after announcing the winners everybody did a good job and we also got along we each other. We really had a fun Genomics day with Glenbrae and Glen Innes.

A Good Leader!!

Does being a leader include being, respectful, caring and helpful? If you see the seniors in your school you can see that they are very responsible and confident and they can sometimes inspire us. What are the things that you should know about becoming a good leader at your school? I suggest if you want to know, read through the statements below to know about the ways of becoming a leader.

The first thing about becoming a leader is being Respectful. Respect is something that everyone and anyone can do. If you respect the people in your family that means you can also respect each other and the teachers of your school. It's good to respect your elders as well, it's good to show respect because the little kids will do the same thing.

My second tip of becoming a leader is by being confident in yourself. Speaking in front of a lot of people is terrifying but if you believe in yourself and get used to it you won't have the fear of talking to people. You can encourage those people that are shy by being confident in yourself.

My last opinion about being an amazing role model is, being positive all the time. You can motivate those people who feel negative by telling them some positive words. If the little kids see you being positive all the time they will be positive with each other. That can show that you're a fit leader for your school.

There you have it, three of my opinions or tips about how to become a good leader of your school. Being Respectful, Confident and being positive will help you become an amazing leader.

Term 4! Here We Come!!

Fakalofa Lahi atu, this week is the first week of term 4. It's also Niuean language week and all of us were happy to see each other. When we were in the hall we saw Mr. Burt dressed up he looked kinda funny and it also gave me goosebumps. This Term's theme is "Life is a Stage" and it's about drama and dancing so it's expressing yourself through a play or a dance.

Team 1 did a movie of Cinderella, four of the team 1 teachers were dressed in gowns and funny outfits while Cinderella was dressed as...Cinderella. The four step-sisters and Cinderella were invited to the ball but the step-sisters didn't let her. Fairy godmother then appeared and turned them into frogs because they were being mean to Cinderella. I'm sure team 1 is going to have a lot of fun this term.

Team 4 teachers were Ms. Barrant, Ms. Tuia, Ms. West, Ms. Sio, Ms. Tumahai and Mr. Goodwin(Statue). Their Item was interviewing the Toy Shop characters, they were talking about Bernard the bee. Ms. Tuia was interviewed and she did the Git up dance. All the four characters were interviewed and each got to show some pretty neat dance moves.

Team 5 was one of my favorite performance. Our team teachers were wearing black with a matched lei and Grass Skirt. The first dance was like a Hawaiian dance and then after, they did the Waka Waka dance. They are great dancers. All of us enjoyed their performance and I can tell that our team 5 is going to have a great and fun term.

All of the Teams did an awesome Job with their items. It also made me excited about what we're going to do and learn this term.

Is Candy better than Chocolate?

Image result for chocolate vs candy
Would you agree that candy is way better than chocolate? I disagree. Do you know why? If you require to know the reason why I disagree that Chocolate is better then candy, read my two good reasons below to find out.

My first reason why I think chocolate is better it's because of course, Chocolate tastes better than candy. Some candies are hard to eat especially for little kids like 2-year-olds or older. If they eat hard candy they might lose a tooth and Chocolate can melt easily in your mouth so Its no problem.

My last and final reason why is because If kids eat candy, candy will be get stuck between their teeth and their teeth will get rotten.
If they get stuck between your teeth including 52 g of sugar It will damage the teeth's enamel and trusts me it will cause sharp pain.

So yeah those are my only two reasons or Opinion that why Chocolate is Better than Candy. Just a simple Advice be careful about what you eat and always keep your teeth clean.

What makes a "Good" Friend?

Image result for Friends word
Backstabbing, arrogant, unreliable. Do you want to be these kind of friends?Obviously not, you want to be the best friend to your friends. If you keep reading you will know some tips to help you be that best friend.

First of all, if you want to be a good friend you have to be very honest with them, as long as you don’t hurt others and their feelings by you being brutally honest. If your friend does something that you don’t like you can’t just stay quiet and bare with it, you can be honest and speak up and tell your friend that you don't like what their doing, that can show your friends that your honest with them in a good way.

Second, good friends are the people that accepts you for who you are, not those friends that wants to be with you because your popular or you have more stuff, those friends that don't judge you because of what you love to do and what you like are true friends.

Finally, my last opinion for being a good friend, is being there for them when their struggling to go through things. I know that a lot of people have friends that struggle through school especially life, those people that have friends they still feel left out, you can be their best friend by being by their side and showing them that your there for them through hard times.

These are my three opinions or tips that will help you keep your friendship precious with your friend, If you use these the chain between you and your friend will never break. What's another thing you think will make you a good friend?

Kids shouldn't get paid for Good Grades?

WALT: Use our created template and checklist to write a persuasive piece of writing.
Do you think that its good for kids to get paid for good grades? I don't think kids should get paid for good grades that's what I think, keep reading for more information about why kids SHOULDN'T get paid for good grades.

The first thing is its because I don't think kids need the motivation of money to do better at school. They should learn how to love the ability of learning and also not to be too greedy for money. Kids should do well at school even without getting paid. Kids getting money for good grades isn't right because if they get to pay for getting good grades then does that mean they will have bad grades if they don't get paid? Exactly it will make it even worse for the students to study because of money.

Instead of giving kids money to reward them for good grades you can reward them with something else instead of money like giving them a hug or a high-five and telling them "Well done!"  It will motivate them to keep going instead of pulling out your Wallet/Purse.

I think that kids will still do good at school without getting paid, in a matter of fact, they shouldn't worry about money since their still young, they can learn how to earn money and how to spend them properly when they're ready.

These are one of the causes of why kids shouldn't get paid for good grades. Now, what do you think about this?

Task Description: Our focus for this week is learning how to choose a topic from the presentation and making a  narrative about disagreeing and agreeing.

Another Great-ish holiday of Mine!!

WALT: Write  about our Holidays.

My holiday well was very good-ish and fun-ish. Keep reading to know about what I mean.

It was the first day of my holiday and my mum wakes me and my brother up, guess what she woke us up for... to do chores. That was the exact moment when I realize that my holiday was going to be another boring holiday. Each of us had chores to do and my favorite part about cleaning is that I get to play songs while cleaning.

After we did our chores, my brother helped my mum cook breakfast while I play more music in our living and look after my little brother and sister. Believe me, my little brother and sister like dancing, so I always play Baby Shark (R&B Version).

So yeah, it was like that for the whole two weeks. The only thing we did was celebrating my older brothers birthday on Sunday, me, my family, my aunty, and uncle and her friend went out and..yeah. Then the next day it was back to school time. I was so happy to see my friends again.

To be honest I like it at school more than staying at home but I like spending time with my family more. I hope you had a great holiday. What was the best holiday that you have ever had? Mine was when we went to visit my Great aunty from Samoa because I get to eat Samoan food that she bought.

Task Description: Writing about our Holiday's.

Should Children Drink Energy Drinks?

Image result for energy drink no
What kind of drinks do you like? What about Energy drinks? My thoughts about children drinking energy drinks are that It can help us be active and energetic but drinking too much will cause us to get crazy. Keep reading to find out the professionals and the experts opinion.
They said that people with heart problems shall never drink energy drinks even kids with heart situations because it can cause concern for their safety. Some Energy drinks can contain up 69.2 g of sugars which is bad for kids to drink too much.
The American Academy of Pediatrics's prefers children consume no caffeine at all. Energy drinks can increase blood pressure in some people. Even though they claim that Energy Drinks can improve your endurance and performance, many health experts disagree.
More than 5,000 cases of people who got sick from energy drinks were reported to U.S. poison control centres between 2010 and 2013, and almost half of those cases were in children did not realise what they were drinking. Kids can also get diabetes if they drink too much because it contains caffeine and too much sugar.

I think that children shouldn't drink energy drinks. I'm saying this for the sake of their safety and their health (and mine).

Why do we have fitness?

Have you ever wondered why we have fitness or why we have to stay fit? If you are one of these people who asked themselves this question. Well keep reading and you will hear my opinion for why we have fitness.

Sometimes I also ask myself, "What's the point of being fit?" then I realise that it's easy to get fat but its hard to lose weight.  So I did some research on why we need to be fit and I found some really important things for why we need fitness. Most importantly, regular activity can improve your quality of life.

Being fit can help us be energetic and active at all times. Did you know that New Zealand is ranked as the 14th laziest country? Well, because we don't go to the gym or exercise. Exercising can improve your health.  Be fit and healthy will keep you from being sick.

Another reason why we kids do fitness at school is that its good for our brain development. It can also help us improve our academic performance. It can help us build strong bones and muscles since its important for us to be healthy.

Now, do you get why we have fitness and why we NEED fitness? To tell you the truth I hate exercising also fitness at school but I learned some important things. That's why I'm glad we have fitness at school.

TERM 3 IS ON!!!

Do you know anything about the underworld (Ocean/Sea)?
Not all of us know everything about the sea, maybe the only thing we know is that there are fish in the water. Today the first day of term 3, we had our Immersion assembly like always. Our Theme for this term is "Something in the water- He Mea Te Roto I Te Wai.

Today's Immersion assembly was very different from any other Immersion Assembly that we had. We get to look at Mr.Burt, Mrs.Tele'a, Mr. Samerville and Ms. Va'afusuaga cook Prawns, Muscles, shrimps and Fish. It looked so yummy and Fresh. Also Instead of the prefects giving out stickers, they were giving out Pieces of Prawn on a toothpick to those kids who behave and listen, it was new as if we didn't cook prawn in a single assembly.

Starting down from team 1 to team 5 each team teachers have to come up with an Item or a Movie to represent something about the creatures in the  Sea or something they will be learning through the term.  I was so excited to watch and see other teams Movies/Items. I just felt like I couldn't stay in my seat.  Everyone's Movies/performance was very entertaining and very enjoyable to watch.

I would say that my favorite one was Team 4's.  The reason why is because it was very interesting and very funny at the same time. My favorite part is when Mr. Goodwin said that there is something in the water but all of them looked at up. My other favorite part was when they were explaining that " Muscles eats Plankton, Crap eats Muscles, Seagull eats the crap and Seagulls are threatened by Human Beings. I'm sure Team 4 will be learning about a lot of Interesting things this term.

There you go! I  told you some things that Happened on our Immersion Assembly and my favorite Movie. If you go to our School site and visit all of our team blog's It will help you learn some things in the water too. Because it also helped me. I'm sure that PT. England school will be learning about a lot of Amazing and cool stuff this term.

"You will always have my heart"

Related image
There was a lovable couple that had three kids, two girls, and one boy. One day the wife told the husband that she has a heart problem and that she has to have a heart surgery so she went to the doctor and the doctor said that the only way for her to live is to find someone to donate  their hearts to her's, but sadly no one wanted to donate their hearts.

When their discussion was over the husband told his wife to go and wait in the car first. After a while, the wife saw him walking out of the hospital with a big smile on his face. The wife got angry because she thought that he was laughing at her because of the heart donation thing, so she started to say terrible things to him, but the husband didn't care he just smiled at her and said "I love you", "Never mind just drive" the wife said. The next morning the husband said goodbye to his kids and hugged them so tightly. After, he took his wife to the hospital and told the doctor to take her to the surgery room. The wife asked why he's doing this but all he did was smiling at her and kissed her on the cheek and then he gave her a shock when he said..."You will always have my heart" The wife looked at him with a curious expression and then the doctor took her in.

After the surgery, the wife came out of the hospital and saw her sister and his husband with her kids, she hugged her kids and asked her sister" Where is my husband?" her sister looked down and up at her again" He passed away a few hours ago, your heart that you have right now... it's his" The wife's face dropped and cried out tears. She remembered the last thing he said to her "You will always have my Heart".

Footprints

Image result for two sets of footprintsLast night I had  a dream
I dreamed as If it was real,
I was walking along the sand as the sky reminds me of my life as I look back,  I can see two sets of footprints one belonged to me and the other belongs to him, I can feel his presence as I walk, I could never imagine that feeling, that feeling that feels like he was carrying me all the way I stopped and I looked out at sea. I spread my hands and closed my eyes I can feel a drop of tear coming down my cheek to my chin. I felt the wind and heard the sea crashing on the shore. As I opened my eyes and looked behind there were dozens of footprints and one lucky guess that it wasn't only God that was walking with me but also his angels.

Apia Samoa (I.R)

Related image
Have you ever been to Samoa? Do you know anything about Samoa? It's a beautiful place and it is also where I come from. I really want to visit  Samoa again, but I'll get the chance someday. I bet Some of you don't know that much about Samoa, that's why I'm here, I'm going to tell you some amazing things about the wonderful Island of Samoa.

Samoa has two main islands and they are Upolu and Savai'i and two small islands, Apolima and Manono, plus six other uninhabited islands. Located on the westerly end of the Samoa Archipelago, it is halfway between Hawaii and New Zealand in the South Pacific Ocean. Savai’i is the largest island in the South Pacific nation of Samoa. Near Salelologa township, in the southeast. The capital of Samoa in Apia. Samoa is at 13° S and 172° W.

Did you know that Samoa has 265 villages? I mean there are some 45 villages the capital Apia is composed of, but yeah. The population is 196,440. Samoa became independent at 14 June 1889, for the first time. Samoa traditional dance is very relaxing with very gentle movements of the hands and feet. The man's dance is called faakaupaki and to me, it's really cool. Faakaupaki in English is "Samoan slap dance" the faakaupaki dance is performed by a group of men and requires strength and stability. The women's dance is Called Siva Samoa and it involves slow and gentle movements of the hands and feet.

Best places that Samoan people like to go is the Market(Makeki)or the beach(Sami). The market is...well its a market but it's not an ordinary market it's a market that you can get anything from, they even have fresh fish. My best part about the Samoan Makeki is the "Keke Pua'a" and the "Pagi Keke(Pancakes)" their my favorite. Samoa also has a clock in the center of Apia. It is located at Beach Rd, Apia, Samoa.

I think now you know some things about Samoa, It is a really good place for a vacation and you can also visit Samoa anytime. I assure you that you will have so much fun in Samoa. I also hope that I get a chance to visit Samoa again.

Technology Wood

I have chosen to make a photo and a Mirror frame for myself. I'll use the other side to put a photo on it and the other side for my mirror, obviously I'll use my mirror to check myself and sometimes do my hair, but it will be useful. I will be mindful to  never give it to anyone even my family members because I want to use it all by myself.

My Progress
(1) I used a piece of wood a pencil and a ruler to make a full size working drawing
of my Mirror because it will show proof that It can be made. (2)I used a  ruler
and a pencil to copy the measurements from my drawing onto my piece of wood.
(3)I marked a Square line at 90 degrees across and the side using a tri-square
and a pencil. (4) I cut off the first piece of wood using a Benched hook and a
Backed Saw. (5) Then I marked out where my joint is supposed to go using a
Tri-square and a pencil. (6)I go to Sir and he marks the side joint with a marking
gauge. (7) I use the wood chisel to cut through the joint to the middle and from
the other side. (8) For my sides I used a ruler to mark the middle and used a
circle ruler to make a circle at the top. (9) I measured 20 cm up from the bottom.
(10) Then I drew a line form the 20 cm that I measured to the circle at the top.
(11) I took it  to Sir and cuts out to make the sides of my mirror.(13) Sir puts two
holes at the top of my sides. (14) I put it in the Joints. (15) I used the clue to stick
it tight.(16) I leave it in the vice for half an hour to dry. (17) I got another piece of
wood and drawed a line in the middle to the side. (18) I took it to sir and he checks
it, then he puts in two holes in the side to were the center is. (19) He cuts two
piece of sticks to hold my mirror. (20)He puts a piece of thin wood between the
side of my mirror and the wood for my mirror. (21) He used a hammer to push in
the two sticks through the side of the wood for my mirror. (22) He did was to cut
out some of the stick part hanging out. (23)He brought some class and measure
it with a piece of paper what was needed to be cut off. (24) He brought a like a
tool and he kinda like sliced the mirror and he then he broke it into halves. (24)
Next He grind the edges because it can be sharp. (25) He bought a special glue
and mixed it on a piece of thin wood then he put it my piece of mirror and stuck it
on. (25) Last thing I have yo do is to wait for the glue to set.

EVALUATION
I think I did well on making my mirror because I didn’t make a mistake while making it. I also did well with the tools.

My ideas well… I will say brilliant but I didn't get to make all of them. I did get to
make something that I loved. My working drawing came out good even though
I’m not that good at drawing. Sir even said that I did a good job when he marked
my work. On the sawing part made me nervous because I thought that I would ruin
it but as I kept cutting I felt confident with myself. The chisel part? Well I had fun
because it was really cool. When I finished making it, it became a masterpiece
well even though it’s just a mirror to me it’s a masterpiece.

In my opinion my mirror looks fantastic it looks like it was made by a professional.
If I get a chance to make it again I would change the mirror shape into a heart or
a circle. What I want to say about my mirror is that I will look after it forever.

Do you know how many towers are there in this world? If you don't know then, same here.  To be honest I only know two towers and that's the Sky tree in Tokyo and the Sky Tower in Auckland New Zealand. I want to find some things about the Sky tower and I will be telling them to you in the three paragraphs below.

The Sky Tower was built in 1994 and it opened on the 3 August 1997. A lot of people went to see the Sky Tower when it opened. The main shaft was built using climbing form work. The upper levels were constructed from composite materials, structural steel, precast concrete, and reinforced concrete, and the observation decks clad in aluminium with blue/green reflective glass.

You won't believe this but over or least then 1,150 people visit the Sky Tower per day (over 415,000 per year). It's amazing right! There are over 20 bars and restaurant in the Sky Tower a 700 seat theatre and a world-class casino. A lot of the people goes to the casino to play games and enjoy themselves but you have to pay for each game if you want to play, I don't know about other people but some people never win and they lose a lot of money, to me, I think that it's a waste of money.

The Sky Tower is now 25 years old, only 25! It is 328 meters (1,076 ft) tall, as measured from the ground level to the topmast, making it the tallest freestanding structure in the Southern Hemisphere. The Sky Tower is the 25th tallest tower in the world. Do you know how much the Sky Tower is cost including everything that is made of? Well...it is...$85 million New Zealand Dollars. Look at how much it cost. But it doesn't matter as long as people appreciate it.

I think I gave you enough information about the Sky Tower. It also helped me learn about other Towers in the world.  It was really fun searching for information about the Sky Tower that I never knew about.
